3 Simple Ways to Start Your Home Based Internet Business Right Now

So, you’ve finally decided to take that giant leap of faith and
start your very own home based internet business. You’ve decided
that it’s finally time to step up to the plate and claim your share
of all those internet riches you keep hearing about. Only problem
is, now that you’ve finally made your decision, it seems like a
pretty daunting task deciding what to do next. Using the term
“information overload” to describe the problem seems like a huge
understatement.

Well, if you’re really serious about starting your own home based
internet business, the next step really doesn’t have to be that
difficult at all. There are 3 relatively simple ways to start making
an online income and one of them is sure to fit your particular idea
of what it is you would like to do. So, just relax, take a deep breath,
and peruse the following list until you find something that strikes
the right cord.

1-Join One or Several Affiliate Programs

This is probably one of the easiest and quickest ways to get
started making money online. The internet is full of products that
have affiliate programs you can join and most of them pay generous
commissions. When you join an affiliate program, you are simply making
an agreement with the owner of a product that you will receive a
commision in exchange for referring a prospect to that person’s product
(usually a sales page that you have sent the prospect to via your
affiliate link) if that prospect ends up making a purchase.

Start by choosing a product or service that you’re interested in
and then visit some of the websites which have achieved top rankings
for the keywords which describe that topic. You’re sure to find the
top affiliate programs for that industry relatively quickly. Or, try
visiting one of the many affiliate program directories (you can find
them quickly enough in Google) and scan their listings and
recommendations until you find something that appeals to you.

This is a good one for newbies since you don’t even need your own
website to get started. You will, however, need to learn how to use
the pay per clicks so you can get some targeted traffic to your
affiliate link. Once you start generating some income from the pay
per clicks, you can then start reinvesting some of your profits and
get yourself set up with your own website. By that time the prospect
of getting set up with your own website won’t seem so daunting.

2-Join a Residual Income Program

Residual income programs are somewhat similiar to affiliate programs
in that you typically get paid for referring a prospect to the
program’s website if that prospect decides to make a purchase.
However, the difference lies in the fact that with these programs
you also have the opportunity to earn a monthly recurring income if
the prospect you refer becomes a paying member of the residual income
opportunity program. For example, I belong to one of these programs
myself. If a prospect comes to my website and clicks on a link which
takes them to the sales page for the product and they buy, then I get
a commission. However, if that prospect also decides to become a
member of the residual income opportunity program, then I get a check
every month as long as that prospect remains a member of that program.

People tend to be skeptical of these programs and get them confused
with pyramid schemes. The way to tell if one of these programs is a
pyramid scheme is to simply determine if the company in question offers
a real honest to goodness product or service. If so, it cannot be
classified as a pyramid scheme and you should be okay. Don’t be scared
off by the fact that you will most likely have to pay a monthly fee to
participate in the residual income opportunity. If you can build a
downline for yourself in one of these programs, the monthly fee will
be negligible compared to the potential residual income you could earn.
Alot of these programs will provide you with your own cookie cutter
website, which is okay if you are just getting started. Again, use the
pay per clicks to start generating some traffic and then work on getting
your own site up so you can start to build your own opt in list.

3-Sell a Hard Good or Downloadable Infoproduct

Okay, okay, I know this one doesn’t sound so simple or easy, but to
be honest, it’s really not as hard as it might first appear. Selling
a hard good entails offering a real physical product (like fishing poles,
for instance) for sale in your own online retail store. If this idea
really appeals to you, go for it. Brainstorm some products you would
enjoy selling, then do some keyword research in Wordtracker to develop
a targeted niche within that market (deep sea fishing poles?).

After that, you can use a drop ship source directory or the search
engines to find manufacturers or distributors who will drop ship the
merchandise for you (meaning they ship it directly to the customer and
you don’t have to carry any inventory). Then go to Ebay or Yahoo and
sign up for one of their stores.  I know from personal experience
that Yahoo has some merchant hosting packages that are great and
super easy to use. They’ll even provide you with a shopping cart feature
and help get you set up with a merchant account (so you can accept
credit cards). Plus, you’ll get some traffic already built in since
millions of people are using their shopping directory to browse for
products every day.

As for the website itself, don’t worry. Most hosting companies today
have some type of site builidng solution available for those customers
who wouldn’t know an html code from a java script. Believe me folks,
if I, a completely technically useless and html challenged technophobe
can do this, ANYONE can.

Now, as to the infoproduct. By the way, I mean YOUR OWN infoproduct.
Everyone on the web and their mother will tell you that this is the
best way to make the really big bucks online. Write about something
you know and/or love. The topic of internet marketing seems to have
been way overdone. Unless, of course, you are a true expert on some
niche internet marketing subject, then definitely do it. Just don’t do
it because everyone else is.

As for the actual writing, you don’t even have to do that if you
really don’t want to. You can check out a site like elance.com and post
your project and have writers bid on completing the project for you!
And there are so many easy to use PDF ebook creators available that
formatting the book should pose no technical challenge whatsoever.
Set up a simple little one sales page website with a link for payment
processing, optimize the site for the engines, use the pay per clicks,
find some JV partners, and you’re in the money!

By the way, I know of some guys who have about 10 or 15 of these
little mini sites set up selling little reports on niche topics and
raking in an average of $2,000 a month from each site. And they’re
incredibly easy to set up and practically run on autopilot once you
do!

Well, there you have it. Just a few relatively simple ways to get you
started on the way to raking in YOUR share of the internet gold mine!

The Work At Home Lifestyle

When we’re young, we have this perception that we’re totally invincible and for a while, we are.  Slowly but surely however, age catches up with us and all the liberties we took with our bodies begin to catch up with us.

Today’s job market particularly in my part of the country,  is a young person’ game.  I remember working in the factory and you could look in the eyes of the people that had been there for a while and they were empty and lacking hope.

Some had already lost jobs and benefits after 20 plus years of loyalty only to be on the fringe of losing it all again after another 20 years in a different place.  When you see this day in and day out it really makes you think – will this be me in 20 years?  Will I physically be up to the challenge that my job requires?

I wanted more. More for myself, my family, and our future.  Corporate America wasn’t the way to go as it couldn’t give me all I was longing for.  I yearned for the independence that only working from home could provide.

The possibilities were endless!  We all see the banners, people lounging around on the beach, or sunning beside the pool.  Once you get your head out of the clouds and realize that now, you’re actually a small business owner; it really brings you back down to earth quite quickly!

To be a success in the work from home industry you must realize that although different in many ways, this is still a job or chosen profession if you will.  You are its President, CEO, Secretary, and on some days, the Janitor.  In this business you’ll find the biggest stumbling block is YOU!  Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, pretty powerful in their own rite but let me impart this pearl of wisdom - success and failure are on the exact same road, it’s just that success is further down the road.

In the end, the only one who can let you down is you.  To be sure you’ll be facing a lot of hard work.  Overseeing the store, calling all the shots, sales, marketing, answering phones, taking orders and the like but, there’s no feeling like the total sense of freedom you’ll enjoy by owning your business.

The feeling of this kind of freedom can be overwhelming as few get to experience it.  A word of caution here – don’t let the euphoric feeling you’re having lull you into a false sense of security.  Your schedule must be rigid, you must be driven to succede, and you must not let your defeats get the best of you.  Listen to those around you who have succeeded – they have already paid their dues in time and money so, doesn’t try to re-invent the wheel.

In closing and probably the most important thing for you to have is belief – a belief in what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, a belief in your products or service, and a belief in yourself.  I can believe in you all day long but if you don’t believe in yourself then my friend, the race is over before it’s begun.

Keep focused on your future, your hopes, your dreams, and what you want to accomplish. Let the nay Sayers have their piece just don’t let it deter you from the path you’ve chosen for yourself for success is at hand and today can truly be the best day of the rest of your life.

Making Money on the Internet for Beginners

If you’re interested in making some extra money to pay off creditors or earn enough income to replace your current job or career then the Internet is the place where aspiring entrepreneurs are turning.  Unlike traditional businesses, a business on the Internet can be started with virtually no capitol, with the exception of your website expense.  You have to have a website if you want to do business on the Internet…PERIOD.

If you don’t have your own product to advertise on your website, there are literally millions of affiliate programs on the Internet who do have products and will pay you commissions to sell their products from your website.  You can choose to sell cell phones, or internet services, candles, furniture, or maybe insurance, the field is wide open.  The affiliate program you choose will also handle all the money, shipping and correspondence with your customers.  All you need to do is to generate the traffic to your new website in order to make the sale.

Often times the affiliate program you join will offer you free websites and that is great, but you will never generate enough free traffic to these affiliate sites to succeed without having your own website.  Why you ask?  For one, the search engines don’t list affiliate sites and you definitely want to get listed in the search engines, this will be your biggest free traffic source.

One of the best ways to generate free traffic is to get involved in link exchanges.  You will basically place a link to another site on your website and they will in turn place a link on their site to yours.  Once you have exchanged several hundred links a portion of your link partners traffic will come to your site.  The free websites you have been given via your affiliate program will not be able to be edited in anyway, thus link exchanges are not an option.

Link exchanges produce a double bonus also.  Not only will you get traffic from your link partners, the search engines will place you higher in their listings when they see lots of links pointing to your site.

The Internet was created to provide information, so if you want to succeed on the Internet and generate lots of free traffic, you are going to have to provide information on your website.  Often times we do this by providing free information or articles on our website.

Offering free and useful information will keep your visitors coming back to your website, and the double bonus here is that the search engines love content.  The more content your website has will produce better listings in the search engines.

Once you have perfected this process of building a website, getting listed in the search engines and have developed a huge traffic stream to your website, your going to be making sales.  It will start out slow and as you build links and content, the traffic will grow and so will your sales.

Affiliate programs can be a great stepping stone to get your foot in the door towards cashing in on the riches that the Internet provides.

As time goes by you will find that you have learned so much and have evolved into an Internet Guru and now it’s time to take it one step farther, and start selling YOURSELF.

Using the knowledge that you have gained, you may want to venture into selling your services to other entrepreneurs just getting started.  You could start a consulting business, or you may offer to build websites, or to help your clients get listed in the search engines.  You may want to start writing E-Books and selling them.  The possibilities are endless.

The Internet is a huge marketplace that is still virtually untapped.  Don’t waste another day worrying about how you’re going to pay your creditors or provide for your family in the future.  Start an Internet business today and see how your life can be changed for the better.

The Big 3 Things You Need To Succeed Online!

The things that you do to promote your website can either make or break your ambitions to succeed in your online endeavors. In this article I am going to discuss what works and what will not.

Starting a business online is a very easy thing to do. It doesn’t cost much to start. Marketing your online business is another thing altogether.

You can have the best product in the world but without traffic to your site that doesn’t mean a thing. You will have to learn how to get this traffic to your site without betting the farm.

The Big 3

“ Opt in email list
“ Write articles
“ Start an ezine

All 3 are tied together. They will work together to build your business and succeed online.

1). Opt In Email List

Your email list is probably the most important part of your online business. This should be the very first thing you should work on once you have your site is up and going.

You will want to build your own list and gain the confidence of your clients. You will want to become the expert in there eyes. Take the time to learn everything you can about whatever it is that you decide to do with your online business.

Stay away from the people who will tell you that they will blast your ad to a whole bunch of opt in emails. Most of the email boxes these get sent to are just dump mail boxes.

Buying lists is also a waste of time because most of the emails come from people who harvest emails from classified ads or free for all pages (ffa pages).

Building your own list is the best way to go. This brings us to step 2.

2). Writing Articles

Most people will say they are not a writer. If you can write a letter you can write an article. Just believe that you are trying to explain to friend how you would do something.

Make the article compelling so that people will want to read it. Writing articles is a subject all by itself.

Writing articles is a quick way to become the expert about your product and drive large amounts of people looking for what you have to offer to your website.

Write your articles and have them published at the ezines is probably the number one way to promote your business.

3). Start Your Own Ezine

After you start to write articles you will want to start an ezine for three reasons:
1. It will build your very own opt in list.
2. It will be a way to advertise your products directly to your very own list.
3. After you build a decent list you will be able to start selling advertising space in your ezine newsletter.

With your own ezine you are the publisher. It is a very good way to get your message out to the target audience that you are looking for. Remember they opted in to receive what you have to say. You are the expert.

10 Easy-to-Learn Tips On Handling Interruptions

Imagine this, a co-worker enters your office and says: “Cathy, could I talk with you for a minute? I’m having a real problem with….” You glance at your watch and think of the report that’s due in an hour. What do you do?

What happens if you were Cathy’s supervisor?

Let’s continue. You’re cooking dinner, starting to unstress, the food preparation timing is coming together– for once, and your mother calls: “Could we talk, it’s important, I need someone to talk to?” What do you say?

What we would like to say and what we end up doing is usually two different things. Good news, tactfully saying no is a learned skill. It requires know-how and practice. Let’s get into ten how-tos and alternatives to help you practice.

Tip 1: There are three parts to meshing a “no but not no” response. The first part acknowledges and empathizes. The second part is a situation statement. And the third part is an action statement.

An example of an empathy statement: “Sam, I’m sure this problem is important.”

Now let’s add a situation statement: “I’m working on a report that I promised to finish within the next hour.”

The third, an action statement, needs to describe what you will do or offer as an alternative: “Let’s get together this afternoon at 2 PM. I’ll meet you in your office.”

You have just said no, without saying no.

Tip 2: What if its your supervisor interrupting you? What do you do? Here’s how to mesh the three parts.

Sandy, your supervisor enters, “Lisa, I hate to interrupt you, but we have a real problem in the field, I need to talk with you right away. Could I see you in my office?”

First, the acknowledgment statement: “Sandy, I’m sure this is an important problem.” Second, the situation segment: “I’m working on that report you requested by noon.” Third, adding the action: “Would you like me to defer the report until 2 PM [its imperative to offer an exact time] so we can meet now? Or would you like me to complete this and then come to your office?” This response allows your supervisor to see your perspective, situation, and make a decision.

Tip 3: Discouraging professional interrupters. These professionals make a career out of interrupting. They start talking and don’t stop. They go on and on and when they finally stop to catch a breath, and you get to say something, they interrupt a few minutes later. How do you handle these?

Movement is the key. If cornered behind your desk, stand up, and move. If standing up, move away. If sitting down, stand up. You can change momentum by dropping something, or turning sideways. Reach for something that has nothing to do with the conversation, or excuse you to the restroom.

Interrupt in the same manner the use with you. Go ahead, they do it because it appears normal to them. Here are a few template statements: “Where is this leading?” “What’s your point, I’ve gotten lost in what I think is the trivia?”

It’s important to practice patience. These professionals don’t usually hear you the first few times. Become a broken record if need be. Identify what it is about their communication style or interruption process that annoys you. Provide your feedback and your preferred method.

Tip 4: What about the few that don’t get your hints? Sometimes following you down the hall or continuing to talk “at” you instead of “with” you? Be direct with this rude offender. If they appear to be bruised, don’t let it bother you. They don’t really take it personally, even if they say so. It is a form of manipulation. Don’t play and don’t apologize.

If they persist, give them an ultimatum: “You rudely interrupt me. I’ve tolerated this them in the past; however, I need for it to stop now.” Eventually when they finally realize you’re not paying their game, they will stop, and even pretend to be offended. Later they will return with respect. Hopefully, with a new awareness of their behavior. But don’t hope. If they don’t return, you haven’t lost anything.

Tip 5: If you can, keep doing what you are doing. Look up, smile, point to a notepad and pen, and then return to what you were doing.

Tip 6: Sometimes the position of your furniture invites interruptions. Especially if your office is beautifully designed, or contains natural ingredients, like plants. Others want to be around this energy. It’s attractive. It’s renewing to them as much as it is to you. There’s only one suggestion — get them to change their office to reflect the same. Then they will not want to leave their office.

Tip 7: If you frequently are trapped behind your desk. Plan and explore various escape routes and methods. You might want to rearrange the furniture to that allows escape routes.

Tip 8: Discourage squatters. If your interruptions are due to people consistently coming in and just sitting and talking, remove the empty chairs. Place them outside your office.

Tip 9: Do people wait for you to get off a phone call? Place a sign on the desk: “If I’m on a phone call, please leave me a note. I’ll check back with you as soon as I’m off the phone.”

An alternative: Train others in a silent hand code. Use your fingers to indicate how long you are going to be. One index finger explains that you will be off the phone in a minute or two, please stay. Full hand with a wave says, “I don’t know how long and I’ll get back to you.” This silent code maintains your thought rhythm, acknowledges them, and allows them to make a choice based on their time.

Tip 10: Many ways for handling, interruptions at work can also apply at home. Here’s one that works well.

Name a “personal spot”. An area you can call your own. It can be a den, sewing room, shed, or an extra bedroom. If you have children, give them the same opportunity.

Purchase a clock sign at the office supply store — the type retailer’s use on their front doors–to indicate what time you will emerge. Add a white board for notes. A magnetic board works well for smaller children. Create magnets for each family member: “Bobby wants you.”

The Other Side Of The Coin

The other side of this perspective is using interruptions to boost productivity. People sometimes use interruptions to push them into overdrive. It helps them, yet disrupts others. It is a habit that gets them to move past their own procrastination and get their tasks completed. This behavior causes stress-related illness. This can be an addictive behavior sometimes disguised “workaholicism.”
